Episode 253 – It’s A Feature, Not A Bug

Episode 253

Laura is knitting a Milo out of Neely’s Knits in the dk base in the Anna colorway using size 5 needles.  Laura is also knitting on the 3 pairs of socks on size 1 (2.25 needles).  The first is Strie, Toe Up by Lara Neel out of Moonrover Handspun.  Spun by the lovely Showmeyourknits.  The second is out of lollipop yarn in the Beach Baby colorway.  The third is a pair of Two Sisters Yarn Company

Leslie is knitting a pair of Bootstrap socks by Lara Neel out of a Knitty & Color sparkle sock blank on size 2.25mm.  She is also working on a customfit sweater out of Madelinetosh Sport in William Morris on size 5/3.75mm needles.

Laura has finished a 2 color Beanie out of Cleckheaton Australian Superfine Merino.   Also finished is Julia’s Birthday sweater.  It is Hiro Petite by Julia Farwell-Clay.  The 8 year old Size is being knit out of Cascade 220 superwash.

Leslie has finished washing all her fleeces; Coopworth, Merino cross, and BFL.  She’s started picking and carding them hoping to get them finished and ready to spin in the next few weeks.  She also started spinning this month’s moonrover club fiber, a SW merino/nylon blend, for a 3 ply sock yarn.

Laura has started spinning her first 4 cable ply spin.  She is using the sidekick and Romney that she dyed at Yarn School.  She is also working on a 12oz spin of Hello Yarn Dormant on Portuguese Merino on the S-R

Question from almariecraft, ‘I am still watching all the old episodes so I am not sure if I will come across this answer. How long or how many braids did it take to get your spinning a consistent thickness? Are there beginner fibers that are less expensive that you would recommend? Not sure if I have the time to dedicate to get good but love the idea of spinning. Both of your spinning works are always so beautiful!”
