Question from stripeysocksgirl, “Hi ladies! I would like to know if there’s some kind of formula or rule of thumb for making afterthought heel socks. Let me explain, I like to knit a 6” cuff for my sock and then I usually knit a 8.5” foot before I do the toe. I’ve done the afterthought heel before but I put the heel in the wrong place and the cuff was much shorter than I like them to be. Where should I put the waste yarn in for an afterthought heel and how long should I knit total to have enough length for my foot and the length of cuff I like? Hope it all makes sense. Thanks!”
