Episode 321 – Purl Whisperer and SSK 2017 Announcement

Leslie is working on the Nuvem out of Plucky Classics Merino/Silk.  She also put in some time on the handspun Askews Me shawl (Laura’s handspun) and started a Toe Up sock With A Difference out of Leading Men Fiber Arts sock blank in Flesh & Blood.

Laura is knitting on Kallara out of Republic of Wool Wrinkle in Time and Plucky Feet in a purple colorway.  She is also working on the second sock of the Man Can Fly colorway out of Desert Vista Dyeworks.

Leslie finished a Ketterdam out of Koigu KPPM and a few tiny ornament hats.

Laura sewed in buttons on her Worthy Sweater.

Laura spun samples from her SAFF class.

Question from CroKnitGurl: I’m currently working on trying to comb and hand card some fleeces. I have a Shetland and BFL, but have come across this same problem for Merino and Coopworth as well. And struggling greatly with static. I have tried spritzing with water which was suggested to me to help with this but it seemed to do nothing, also I don’t want to rust my hand cards or combs with all the water. Combing seems to be the biggest struggle with this issue, to the point that it becomes physically impossible. Do you have any suggestions to help cut down on the static of the fiber?

Leslie read a YA fantasy book, Half Wild, the second in a series about black magic and white magic.  She is just starting the third in the series, Half Son.

Laura finished reading Falling Over Sideways by Jordan Sonnenblick.  She is currently reading Took by Mary Downing Hahn.
