{"id":309,"date":"2010-03-29T11:36:47","date_gmt":"2010-03-29T16:36:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/?p=309"},"modified":"2010-03-29T11:40:21","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T16:40:21","slug":"why-some-things-change-and-some-things-dont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/index.php\/2010\/03\/why-some-things-change-and-some-things-dont\/","title":{"rendered":"Why some things change, and some things don&#8217;t."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Leslie\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc1.fbcdn.net\/hs175.snc1\/6568_1218443224854_1342096690_612814_4681383_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"57\" height=\"77\" \/>This week is &#8220;A&#8221; week.\u00a0 This week, we as atheists, we quietly and unobtrusively show ourselves on Facebook by temporarily replacing our profile photo with the &#8216;scarlet&#8217; A:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/atheist.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-310 aligncenter\" title=\"atheist\" src=\"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/atheist.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In my teenage years, I would have been terrified to out myself as an atheist.\u00a0 I preferred to quietly disagree with the majority, and avoid debate at all costs for fear of losing friends.<\/p>\n<p>As an adult, I no longer fear being seen as the &#8216;weirdo&#8217;, the one that others are convinced is wrong.\u00a0 I am as certain in my lack of belief as any saved soul is in their belief of gods and\/or an afterlife.\u00a0 I disagree, and I will do so very clearly if attacked, but otherwise I am content to just be; no need for conversion on either side.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I am a good person without any god, and as long as we can maintain a separation of church and state, I have no qualms with believers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So, happy Atheism week, my friends!<\/p>\n<p>In other news, Michael &amp; I planted our spring veggies this past weekend!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Wide shot of Garden\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4064\/4468922164_a70e6abcc4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not much, but we&#8217;re hoping for some good growth!\u00a0 This year we planted brussell sprouts, cabbage, onions, broccoli, bell peppers, tomatoes and strawberries.\u00a0 We will plant some potatoes later in the year.\u00a0\u00a0 There so much possibility in these little guys!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Close up of Broccoli\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4029\/4468146415_9768afe3f0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aside from gardening, I&#8217;ve been knitting away on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/lilith-3\">Lilith<\/a>, trying to get it finished before the fling.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll have too much trouble doing it, but it is MILES of stockingette.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have a WIP photo but hope to have one later on.
