{"id":328,"date":"2010-04-05T11:25:46","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T16:25:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/?p=328"},"modified":"2010-04-05T11:25:46","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T16:25:46","slug":"what-a-difference-a-technique-makes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/index.php\/2010\/04\/what-a-difference-a-technique-makes\/","title":{"rendered":"What a difference a technique makes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, on a trip to Jasper, I decided to cast on for a pair of sideways knit socks in one of my favorite colorways of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/yarns\/library\/lalas-knits-la-la-knits\">Lala&#8217;s Knits<\/a> yarn, &#8220;Into Thin Air&#8221;.\u00a0 The pattern itself wasn&#8217;t too difficult, but in the end it just doesn&#8217;t fit the way I would like for it to fit.\u00a0 So I decided for the second sock, I&#8217;d just knit it plain, toe up stockingette, to see how the color played out differently.\u00a0 I think it gives it a really cool effect!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"sidewinder socks\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2706\/4492361588_91280cde5d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Project info and notes are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/projects\/udontcallmeles\/sidewinders-a-perpensockular-pattern\">here<\/a>, along with more pictures if you&#8217;re interested.<\/p>\n<p>Next on the needles are the Vesper knee highs I talked about in Episode 1 of the videocast.\u00a0 I cast on the toe last night in some DIC smooshy I had leftover from who knows what &#8211; it&#8217;s a dark purpley-brown that matches one of the color stripes in the vesper that I&#8217;m going to use for the leg.\u00a0 Look &#8211; its so tiny and cute!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img00059-20100405-1117.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-329\" title=\"img00059-20100405-1117\" src=\"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img00059-20100405-1117-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img00059-20100405-1117-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img00059-20100405-1117.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We also got out into the yard this weekend to clean up\/prune some bushes, and down at the lake we ran into mama goose, keeping her eggs warm by the lake.\u00a0 The geese always nest there for some reason:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"mama goose\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4063\/4491706729_67867c39cc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">You know what that means &#8211;
