Over the past few days, I’ve been knitting some Monster Chunks for my 8th grade library workers. \u00a0This year I have four. \u00a0Four of the best teenagers that you’ll ever met. \u00a0We’ve spent the year shelving books, helping each other with complex vs. compound sentence structure ( I did most of the help), and lots of laughter. \u00a0I have good kids. \u00a0So good, that two of them are exempt from exams next week and today was our last day together. \u00a0So I gave them their monster chunks and gift cards to Starbucks. \u00a0Then they surprised me. \u00a0They had plotted together and crocheted me a scarf. \u00a0It’s so acrylic that it squeaks, but all I can feel when I wear it is the love that went into each stitch. \u00a0These kids are going to rock the world and damn if I don’t miss them already.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
