{"id":476,"date":"2010-06-17T16:56:19","date_gmt":"2010-06-17T21:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/?p=476"},"modified":"2010-06-17T17:01:15","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T22:01:15","slug":"the-great-goose-migration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theknitgirllls.com\/index.php\/2010\/06\/the-great-goose-migration\/","title":{"rendered":"The Great Goose Migration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got home yesterday, and look at what greeted me in the backyard!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Geese1\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4063\/4707680341_4e7bd4f58e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know that one is kind of far away.\u00a0 Fear not, there are more pictures:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Geese2\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4010\/4707681245_78fd435580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Geese 3\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4057\/4707682501_2d66ffb329.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s like every goose in a 20 mile radius knew we had some stale bread to get rid of!\u00a0 And of course Kobe enjoys photobombing everything:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"geese 4\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1282\/4708324970_18c8be5c54.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m all about the geese having a nice comfy place to live (and comfy it is, these are some fat geese), but they are messy little suckers.\u00a0 But look, the babies are almost fully matured!\u00a0 You can tell these were the babies cause they still have some of the down on their necks:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"geese5\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1296\/4708327270_fa6dfb10c3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They matured in like 6 weeks!\u00a0 I can&#8217;t even count them anymore, there are just too many!\u00a0 We do still have &#8220;King Goose&#8221; (with the orange feet and beak bump) with his adopted ducklings &#8211; momma duck has flown the coop completely so he&#8217;s all they&#8217;ve got it seems!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Geese7\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4049\/4707684615_deeffa7cb4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Suffice it to say, I have a very well fertilized back yard.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Moving things inside the house, have a look at my finished <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/projects\/udontcallmeles\/filigree-bowl\">Filigree <\/a>Bowl!\u00a0 There are some silly pirates from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anniemaude.etsy.com.etsy.com\/\">AnnieMaude<\/a> playing amongst the fiber.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"bowl1\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4034\/4708329178_1aa08bb9e6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s some of my pre-drafted fiber in here, just to fill it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"bowl2\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4060\/4708331102_d7db70b53a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here it is empty, but with weird shadows going on:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"bowl3\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4026\/4708331536_accb0cbf1f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I think it turned out pretty well &#8211; but I can see a few areas for improvement.\u00a0 I did use a cornstarch recipe for stiffening it but it probably would have been fine just using the commercial stiffener.\u00a0 I will definitely make more of these, cause they&#8217;re very cute little gifts.<br \/>\nSo readers, what is your go-to knitted or crocheted gift?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got home yesterday, and look at what greeted me in the backyard!
