I’m giving the NaBloPoMo thing a shot – since I posted yesterday with the video, today is day 2!
Today’s prompted question is:
What’s your favorite poem? (And if you don’t have one, why?)
Well, I don’t typically read poetry. The most regular exposure I get to it is from Sarah‘s Sock Club, which is sadly over for the time being. The most impactful poem that I can remember from high school is (not surprisingly) Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven“. I remember trying to memorize it in high school and failing after about 6 verses. 🙂
In other news, yesterday I got to get out of the office and volunteer at an event that’s being held at my workplace. The event is a national tournament for sporting clays (shooting the little clay “pigeons” as they shoot out of a little metal machine), and we have over 1000 shooters here. Most of them bring their own tricked out golf carts and ATV’s, but some need help getting from one giant empty shooting field to the next. So my job entailed driving a golf cart around outside in the sunshine for 6 hours, just picking folks up and taking them where they needed to go. It was pretty awesome:
I kind of wish they’d let me do that for the rest of the week. It was hot, but it was so relaxing at the same time.
After all that fun, I went home and cleaned up the yarn room, recorded a quick videoblog, (though I somehow uploaded the same file twice, oops!) and knitted a little on the Norwegian Rose socks for our KnitGirllls KAL – still have half a repeat plus ribbing to go!
Quick note for iTunes users – I uploaded the full file of the videoblog to iTunes without breaks, so this should make it easier for your subscription service to pull the right file. I welcome any feedback on this process.
I am very seriously considering starting a “floating” project. I have to take my little one to Taekwondo twice a week, and I can’t really do colorwork and keep an eye on him at the same time, so I need something simple. I’m thinking about starting a Barn Raising Quilt – as they’re made one square at a time and look pretty easy. Plus I found one by soxchik that is so crazy gorgeous, that I really really want to copy it.
I suppose that’ll wrap it up for now – but before I close out, I wonder if you guys are interested in seeing a list of the blogs that Laura & I read on a daily/weekly basis? So many people do blogrolls that it might be overkill, but who knows, maybe you guys want to see that stuff.
Off to read y’all’s blogs!
