Episode 242 – Six Degrees of Separation

Episode 242

Laura is knitting on some afterthought heel socks using Quaere Fiber in the Patchwork colorway and Knitpicks for the heels, toe, and cuff.  She is using size 1 needles.  Laura has also been knitting on Imperial Stock Ranch Retro Thrum Slippers out of Ella Rae worsted and Islandic sheep thrums.

Leslie is working on the Much Ado shawl out of Leading Men Fiber Arts showcase in the Beanstalk colorway.  She also cast on a pair of Vanilla Bean socks out of Fishknits strong heart base in the “After the Storm” colorway.

Laura has finished the Washington Square out of John Q Designer Nature’s Touch.  She went down to a size 7 needle for the yoke and button band (the rest was knit on size 8)  She also cut 16 rows out of the yoke due to row gauge issues.  The Chouette now has button eyes and tassels.

Laura has spun 4oz batt from Joanna Spring.  It will be plied with some Leister Longwool as soon as the singles for that are spun.

Check out JoannaSpring’s awesomeoness.

Question from Dahle, “What do you knit with merino yarn? I have a few skeins of malabrigo merino worsted weight yarn. And it is so soft but looks terrible after just a few wears. I’ve knit a hat and a vest and have been disappointed with how they look old and worn so quickly. What would you knit with this yarn?

Thanks!”
