Episode 166 – Mysterious Drilling

Laura is knitting on Basic Shaped Arch Socks out of Inspiration Dyeworks in the Caution stripe colorway.  She has started the Levenwick Sweater out of Unwind Yarn Company Worsted weight on size 7 needles (will be going down to size 6 for the sweater). She has swatched a simple baby cap (Itty Bitty Hats) using size 7 needles and ITW Godwood Handspun.  The color affection has been frogged for right now.

Leslie is knitting on the Caulfield Cardigan by Amy Herzog.  She is using Quince & Co Sparrow in color 202.  She has cast on a sockhead hat out of Cyborg’s Craft Room Assquishilate in Locutus.

Leslie has spun 2oz of SCF Polwarth and is moving it onto weaving bobbins.

Laura shows the found SCF Natural Beauty (400 yards of a 2-ply). She has plied  the singles of Moonshine on Polwarth in the Nick’s Room colorway  (2-ply 360 yards)and Into the Whirled Godswood.(250 yards, 2-ply)  She has also plyed the of singles of Deepening by Southern Cross Fibre on 80% Falkland and 20% baby alpaca. (400 yards 2-ply) She has spun and plied Hello Yarn BFL Spots of Fun (350 yards, 2-ply).  She has spun the singles of some rolags she made on her blending board (merino, firestar, milk, bamboo, and mohair).  They will be plyed tonight.  She has spun 2 oz of singles of SCF in the Antarticia colorway on Polwarth.  She has spindle spun .25 ounces of Wool/merino on her Spanish Peacock drop spindle.  The roving is from Autumn House farm.

Episode 165 – All the Extra Bits

Leslie has finished her Goodale by Cecily Glowak McDonald, using Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool.

Leslie has spun her Keegan Lane Yarns “Knock Knock Knock, Penny” into her first cable ply yarn.  She spun four singles, plied sets of two singles, then plied the 2ply yarns together.  She got 80 yards of a Bulky weight.  She also spun Highland Handmades Superwash Merino in the Lost Colorway.  She got 124 yards of a 3ply, and an additional 50 yards of a 2ply from the leftovers on the bobbins.  She fulled her Loop batt from last week using Jasmin of the Knitmore Girls’ tutorials (two parts).

Laura has plied a Loop bump in the Ravine colorway (300 yards of a n-ply).  She has also spun and plied SCF which is somewhere yet to be unpacked (400) yards of a 2-ply).  She has spun a 1 ounce coopworth batt and sample plied using Andean Plying (Sarah Anderson’s Spinner’s Book of Yarn Design, method 1).  She has spun the singles of Moonshine on Polwarth in the Nick’s Room colorway and Into the Whirled Godswood.  She has spun 2 oz of singles of Deepening by Southern Cross Fibre on 80% Falkland and 20% baby alpaca.

Episode 164 – Too Hot to Touch

Laura is knitting on some Sweet Tomato Heel socks on size one needles.  She is also knitting on Caution Stripe socks out of Inspiration Dyeworks in the Caution Stripe colorway.

Leslie is knitting on Goodale out of Silky Wool.

Laura has blocked her Antler out of Madtosh Vintage in the Rainwater colorway.  She has also finished Ananke out of Skein Top Draw sock yarn in the Inlet colorway for Camp Loopy project 1.  It was knit on size 4 needles.

Leslie has spon a single ply out of a Loop Bump.  She is leaving it as a single yarn and we discuss the technique behind singles.

Laura has spun the first half of Southern Cross Fibre in the Natural Beauty colorway on Organic Merino.
