Episode 247 – Queen of Bartering

Episode 247

Laura is knitting on 2 color Beanie out of Cleckheaton Australian Superfine Merino.  Jackaroo is in the seaming stage (just side seams and pockets to go) and then button bands and collar will be knit.  Rock Steady is also in progress.  Second sock is on the foot.  The yarn being used is Hazel Knits.  Laura has also worked on her Kirsten Kapur mystery shawl from 2014 (algiers).  It is out of WM in the Elfe colorway.  Laura has also cast on a basic toe up sock in the “Come What May” colorway from Knitcircus yarns.

Leslie is knitting on her Bridgewater out of Madelinetosh lace in the Silver Fox colorway. She is also working on a pair of Vanilla Bean socks out of Fishknits strong heart base in the “After the Storm” colorway.  She also started a pair of Spring Showers as a barter for long arm quilting one of her quilts.

Laura has finished the Irene Adler shawl by Kirsten Kapur out of WM lace in a we’re different colorway.  It was knit on size 6 needles and modifications included added around 200 silver beads.

Question from Knittyvankat, “I was wondering, and this might be silly, but when you swatch for a sweater or a large project that needs swatching, do you use the needles you intend to use on the project or do you use DPNs or straights? Would it matter if you used different needles than the intended?”

What we are reading:

Leslie finished The Change by Teyla Brandton and Master of Crows by Grace Draven.  She is now alternating between Cursor’s Fury (3rd in the series) and The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer for audiobooks.

Laura has read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
