This week we run a little long! We go through our WIP’s and Spinning (No FO’s this week), review Craft Activism, talk about a bunch of our favorite things, and we show you this week’s giveaway – Cakewalk yarns!
Laura is knitting on a Log Cabin Blanket from Mason Dixon Knitting. It is on size 11 (8.0mm) needles and knit out of Classic Elite Sprout. She also has on the needles some self-designed socks out of STR lightweight in the Fire on the Mountain colorway (size 1.5 needles) and a shawl called, Thin Ice, out of Tempted Good Grrl on size 6 needles. She also has some cutest booties on the needles
Leslie is knitting on a new sweater using Jared Flood’s class notes about EZ’s sweater percentage system (You can find more details about it in Knitting without Tears).
No FOs!
Leslie is spinning on some lovely Miss Babs fiber in a Merino/Bamboo/Silk blend. She needs your help deciding what to ply with it!
Laura is spinning some Frabjous Fibers in the Ink colorway of their glitter blend.

Cakewalk Yarns has donated some lovely goodies for the next 2 giveaways and is offering free shipping worldwide to all knitgirllls watchers.
Love those Cakewalk Yarns! I’m definitely going to visit her shop.
Wow, Leslie, you have a hard choice to make, there! I like the first one with the muted colors but I equally like the third one, with the more similar colors, the grays and reds…….good luck! I don’t think you will go wrong with either of those combinations…..
I am so enjoying you and Laura, each week. I look forward to meeting you, this summer, in Nashville!
Thanks for another fun episode. Going to check out the cakewalk yarn!!
Yay
Another long episode
Roz
What weight is the Socks that Rock that Laura was working on? I have a pair of socks in the same colorway made with the medium weight.
I’d like free yarn!
STR lightweight in the Fire on the Mountain colorway
I’m so glad you guys said something about the Malabrig”u” thing – I kept wanting to tell you there was an O at the end, not a U!
The cakewalk yarns are awesome!
I am looking forward to the spin along
I loved the episode as usual. Laura the shawl you are designing is wonderful. Can’t wait to get the pattern. And Leslie, I loved the pinafores you made. I do a lot of charity knitting and sewing and think they would be cute to send in a package. Thanks for the fun show.
Love yarn contests especially when I’m on a yarn diet LOL
Another great episode! Y’all make monday mornings so much easier!
I really love the rusty train car color – going to go see what is in the shop. Would love to win the yarn!
The Cakewalk yarn is beautiful! I can justify buying more yarn with the discount code. lol
I so NEED that yarn!!
Hi guys! Great show as always! Laura- i love the “Thin Ice” shawl!! So beautiful! Leslie- personally i liked choice #4, the pink fiber to spin with the gray. i really like that color combo.
I will be sure to check out the Cakewalk Esty shop. Free shipping is awesome, you are right, if it’s free it makes it easier to purchase more ‘stuff’. Love the length of your videocast…the longer the better!!!
Great episode! Thanks!
I can’t wait to find out who the dyer will be for the SAL fiber…
Thank you both, this episode really cheered me up after a “strange” day.
All four choices of Leslie’s roving look good to me, but I would probably opt for the “Mars” (red and grey), it looked so good!
Love the Cakewalk Yarn! 🙂
I’ve browsed Cakewalk’s shop a few times, but haven’t made any purchases yet. That sampler pack would be a great way to try her yarns. 🙂
I enjoy sending time watching your show. You do a great job, and have good information to share. Thank You!!!
I like the first fiber you showed, it will look great with the gray.
Thank You
Lisa
Hi Yall!!
I love your podcast and actually caught it a work today…Leslie the pinafores are amazing and your sewing skills are something you should be very proud of. Laura….I would love to see a photo of you dressed up for the school day that you spoke of. It shows that you really love what you do. The Cakewalk sample pack in genius!! Well enough chatter for now…work in waiting 🙂 Have a super week both of you
Jean
I voted for Mars
Hmm, for what to ply with the Miss Babs, I vote for the Mad Monet fiber; however, I am surrounded by poster versions of Monet’s waterlilies, so perhaps I am a little biased. And I am a fan of green. Green Aran weight cowl, oooooooo.
Thanks for including us non-spinners in the next spin/knit-a-long!
Pick me!! Pick me!!
Leslie, the Mars colorway is my pick!
Another great episode – thank you both!
Saw naturallyknitty’s project and it is so beautiful!!
Enjoyed the show ladies.
I like the first choice for Leslie’s spinning/ply project 🙂 And feel free to pick my name for ANYTHING!
Mmmmm, Cakewalk Yarn *drool, drool*
I don’t blame you for not parting with those great yarns!!!
Love those Cakewalk yarns – saw TONS in her shop that I love too!!! So happy to hear that the Free Shipping code is good internationally as well! TWO THUMBS UP!! 🙂 Thanks for another awesome episode girllls….you RAWK!! …Lisa 🙂
I’m finishing a huge baby blanket in cotton & acrylic for my newest grandon who’s due in November (blankie goes in the washer!) and would love to try a sampler of scrumptious yarn. You can pick my name anytime. Love your podcast and watch every week. Thanks!
Free yarn! woopwoop! The first think I thought of when I saw the log cabin was “WATERMELON!!!” – not necessarily a bad thing 🙂 Oh, and kindly stop teasing me with fiber 😉 I’m on a yarn diet for SSK!!!! Jeesh!
That yarn is gorgeous! And I love the idea of a sampler pack – I wish more vendors would offer that!!
Love watching you guys, thanks for making my crummy day a little brighter!
Wonderful podcast. Loved the episode guys, and all the pretty fiber.
Another fabulous podcast–the long ones are my favorites. Can’t wait to see how all that luscious fiber spins up!! Thanks to Laura I’m now itching to knit some Halloween socks.
You both always make such lovly things. Ooooo I love free yarn.
I’m thinking about making one of those pinafores – SO CUTE! And the yarn giveaway is awesome, the cakewalk yarn is just gorgeous.
I would do the silvery roving with the pink/fuschia roving. I think that would turn out really fun.
Loved the show, especially like the yarn for spin-a-long since I don’t spin yet, bad shoulder. Really cheered me up since we are moving and I’m sitting around surrounded by boxes of books. Even worse my entire stash fits in 2 twenty quart totes. I don’t think I own enough yarn to have participated in stash dash. Oh well, maybe I’ll win something this week and improve.
Those pinafores are so cute. I’ve got to make a couple of those. And the Cakewalk yarn is gorgeous, especially that first skein you shown. Looking forward to the spin-a-long….hoping to participate this year.
Love the yarn! Can’t wait for the spin-a-long.
Thanks for the chance to win some awsome cakewalk yarn. Loved the little pinafores….cute, cute, cute
Great episode, and love the yarn!
Another great episode! Love love the cakewalk! Excited to hear that they’ll be yarn and fiber for the spin/knit along. SSK vendor list is awesome… Can’t wait to shop!!
Another great episode ladies! I love the fall colors of that yarn, exactly what we need right now.
Love the new yarns! I am off to check out that easy shop.
Thanks for another great show!
One of your best episodes yet.
I am so glad I found this podcast. Ya’ll are very encouraging and thanks for helping me find things to branch out and try. I have been knitting for about 2 years and am looking forward to the next episode 🙂
I’m looking forward to visiting this shop! Thanks for the giveaway!
I like the package with the samples of yarn. I’m theknittinggirl12 on Ravelry. I like your podcast. It’s very interesting. My sister and I want to do one when we get your age.
I vote for the Mars, grey and red fiber. The first one, the monet, would be my second choice. I’m afraid that if you ply it or one of the others with grey you’ll be dissapointd when those lovely bright colors are muted by grey. Feel better Laura!
Great show!!! I only found you ladies recently and have been watching an episode every night! I would love yo be entered into your Cakewalk Yarn giveaway.
Oh, and I vote pink fiber!
I am with Laura and on a yarn diet. Give-aways do not count. Visited Cakewalk’s etsy shop….fantastic!
Thank you for another great giveaway!
love the colors of Cakewalk. thanks for all your hard work
Leslie:
I vote for the first fibre-match choice – by a long shot.
I loved the pinafores and the fabrics you chose.
Both: it was a great show.
The pinafores are adorable!! 🙂 Awesome episode, as always, and thanks for sharing the Knitrundig info. Great new video/podcast! I will definitely have to check out Cakewalk!! Loving the colors!!
Awesome episode as always. The sampler skeins look so awesome! One of my exceptions to my yarn diet is giveaways or gifts! ;-).
super episode! the pinafores are adorable! i love the fact that they have no buttons or other closures on them!
I liked the first choice of fiber to spin with your Miss Babs, based on the colors.
Love getting ready for work listening to you two! STarts my day right… although sometimes I end up talking to you… but no one ever responds! 😉 haha…
The Pinafore’s are adorable.
Thanks so much for your lovely LOOONG vodcast this week – I randomly had downtime today and it was great to fill it with something knitting related – especially since I stupidly forgot to bring my knitting! This is AFTER I purchased a bigger bag to be able to hold a knitting project as well as my work files! hehe Thanks again!!!!
Another great episode. You guys crack me up!
My vote is for Mars, Ohio State colors. Thanks for a great podcast, you two make Mondays so much better! 🙂
Great episode, as usual. Love the Cakewalk. Laura, your shawl is beautiful! Can’t wait for the pattern. Leslie, my vote is for Mars. Have a great week.
I like the first and last options for spinning.
I do not see the widget for entering cakewalk yarns giveaway. Very generous gift to be sure.
I think the 1st color would like nice with the silver.
I’m also voting for the first option to spin, just love the colors. Question for anyone: How do you store your shawls- fold, roll, hang?
I look forward to your podcast every week. Knitting along with you both is so much fun. I’d love to try out the 1st skein of aran weight Cakewalk.
Thanks for another great episode. I love that sampler pack from Cakewalk yarns! I will definitely go check out her shop.
I’m confused about the Rafflecopter entry. It says there are only 7 entries so far but there are a lot more comments than that. I guess I just have to see what happens after I submit this!
I have some Cakewalk Yarns in my stash. Awesome stuff!
Thank you so much for sharing the Cakewalk yarns. I will be checking out her etsy shop soon.
lala…I also stalk Kirsten Kapur because you mentioned her and I love love love her patterns.
I would love to be entered to win yarn. I took a look at the etsy shop and the yarn colors are unique. Gotta have some of this yarn.
Thanks for a great episode, love the CakeWalk yarns, I’d love to win a skein. I also thought the pinafores were so cute!
Also, what was the name of the videocast Leslie recommended?? Thanks!
You asked for opinions on what to ply with your 4oz of Miss Babs. Well, I think you should go with the Mars, though the Mad Monet is really good too. (Hey look! its’ the 2 you are vacillating between.) I’d go with the one that you can see yourself knitting with the most. If it were me, I’d choose the Mars.
I would love to win the yarn. I watch your episodes every sunday and enjoy hearing about your projects and contest you have.
I think that little sample pack is the cutest thing! Great show ladies, as usual.
i have never tried Cakewalk yarn! I have the STR fire on the mountain that has started to be several things. Think I will try LaLa’s pattern when it comes out.
That sampler pack is so clever! More shops should do that!
That is some gorgeous fiber, Leslie. I like the first one a lot, but I also wanted to grab the shiny and cuddle it.
The cakewalk yarns look nice and I’m on my way over to Etsy to look at her stuff now. Too bad I”m on a yarn and fiber diet right now. It won’t stop me from looking though.
A great episode! Looking forward to a new spin-a-long. Lovely yarn.
I look forward to each new podcast! I’m always amazed by your talents and how much knitting, spinning, sewing, etc you both do! Wow! Thanks for the chance to win lovely, lovely yarn! Stephanie
Thanks for another great podcast! Thanks so much for mentioning the Kal from the other podcast as I have not listened and now did and joined the kal too! Also went to etsy to buy two hanks from cakewalk! It is so nice to be apart of such a wonderful knitting community!!!
I love the Mars color. Enjoyed the show and I wouldn’t mind winning the yarn or sample pack.
Love the yarn! And the podcast 😀
Haha, Laura is always full of sparkle 😀
Thanks for another great episode!
Love your podcast!
Yay!
Thanks for a long and fun episode, I managed to knit over a half babyhat while watching/listening. 🙂
That cakewalk yarn lookes lovely, I’m heading over to etsy to check it out right now. 😀
Love the longer episodes…..you guys are my “destressification” after a long workday 🙂
Ps love Cakewalk too!
I sooo love watching y’all each week! Thanks to Cakewalk for sharing :o)
I love that Gale’s Art braid. I was eyeing her roving at Wisconsin Sheep and Wool but didn’t get any because I want to wait until I get a wheel.
The same thing happened to me with my signature needles too, Leslie. I contacted them and they really do have awesome customer service. I got my replacement needles really quickly. 🙂
I love your show and the cakewalk yarn looks awesome!
Free shipping you say? I’m on it!
Also, great episode. The longer episodes help make my work day fly by.
Oh I would love to win either of those items. Those sample skeins are adorable! Thanks for a great episode!
Thanks for the nice long episode. I’m anxious to see your Halloween socks this year. On a side note, I know that Laura is a Steampuck fan and was wondering if she has seeh the steampuck socks pattern put out by Holiday Yarns. I think they are darling! Have a great week.
I absolutely love your podcast as always. I don’t know why but this episode makes me happy. I’ve been listening to the same one on the way to work every day this week. Enjoyed the book review also. Watching your show has encouraged me to start my first pullover blouse next week.
Those pinafores are darling! I love them!!!!! Great, fun episode. Miss you guys.
Would love a chance to win yarn. Feeling bad about falling behind on podcasts, but homework comes first.
Leslie, my favorite fiber was the 3rd choice, followed by the 4th. I loved your pinafore dresses!
Laura, I love those tiny booties you’re making!
Boy, my mind is spinning with all the little things I could knit with the set of mini skeins.
Man, I love you guys 🙂
lasknit2
I really like colorway #3 for Leslie to spin with the gray- I know that she love red and I think that the red and gray goes together- I really love the fact that you are sewing as well as knitting – Makes the show very diverse and interresting- I am sad that I have not gotten into SSK- I thought I might hear from you since 9/27 has passed but alas – I will still watch all your shows because I am a fan- love it!
Lovely episode once again! Thanks! 🙂
Great episode!
Thank you, thank you and thank ‘yall for opening up the vendor market for SSK, I would have loved to attend the whole thing but am excited to check out the market as a close runner up. Also, I wanted to tell you that you have been a great inspiration to me to try spinning so I took a drop spindle class last night. It was really cool and a great way to dip my toe in the spinning water rather than act like a crazy woman and go out to buy a wheel with no idea of what I’m doing! Thanks!
The Cakewalk yarn is just beautiful! I can see myself useing those mini skeins in my beekeeper’s quilt. Thanks for the giveaway <3
that book sounds awesome I put it on my amazon wishlist!
great episode (like always)
I’d love to win some yarn too.
Love your vid-cast! Thanks for all your hard work— you guys are awesome!!!
Love the Knitgirllls! You never get old, I always look forward to your show.
Thanks for a great podcast!
What a great giveaway! Love your podcast!
Another great episode. Thanks for the book review…I’m interested in that one!
Cakewalk has great yarns, with wonderful colorway. I love the Sudden Valley and Abalone.
I have been stalking the Cakewalk site for months now – I love the Cherry Blossom colorway. Thanks for a great podcast- it is always a joy to watch!
i think the mars would look loveny with it. and LOVE the show. with me being sick it was MUCH funnier than it should have been but i loves it just the same!
Love this yarn and love the name. I need to win the yarn as we’re trying to save money for another house and I’ve been put on a budget!
Love watching you guys every week. You rock.
Michelle
I really love this podcast. Even though I’m in the UK I feel like I’m knitting with friends when I watch.
Leslie I think you should ply with either the first choice – the muted rainbow – or the fuschia which was the last choice.
Hi Ya’ll! I just found your podcast this week and I live very close to Memphis. I am so hooked to listening and enjoy hearing about your adventures in knitting. Would love to win some yarn as I too have been on a Fiber Diet:)
Thanks!
The vodcast was filled with goodies. Thanks.
I like the looks of the Cakewalk yarns and it’s in Michigan–yay!
Re: Sprout and wash cloths. I’ve made a couple wash cloths out of Sprout and people RAVE about them. Super-soft and luxurious!
I really like the yarns, especially the sock yarns. I would be happy to win.
I with Leslie on the first choice to ply with the gray.
Eric
Another enjoyable episode. I liked the first fiber choice. What was the new podcast that you mentioned?
Loved this episode!
Wish I lived closer so I could shop at the SSK vendor fair.
I love this pod cast, I love the fibery goodness you spread and I so enjoy you friendship. Sorry I had to back out of SSK – maybe next time.
I love the Long episodes!! Thanks for the segment on the Pinafores; they are so cute. I thought Pinafores were candies?? Well that is how much I know!! I have a friend with a baby girl. So I am going to get sewing on some of those!!
I would vote for the Fiber Optic braid to pair with the Green/gray. But I am such a FO fan!! If she gets her store open in Cincinnati, you both are invited to come stay with me and we’ll go!
I’ve never tried Cakewalk yarns, They look Yummy.
Thanks for all you do,
Jude
Great show yet again! I love your tshirt Lala.
Hey! I’m a somewhat new listener! Great job ladies!
Seriously, I think you guys get better EVERY week – so I suppose you will be keeping your promise for those who are just finding you now!
I really enjoy your podcasts. I am new to knitting, ravelry and all of it, but I am LOVING it. A friend told me about you all and I’m so glad she did! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks SO much for the plug! I have never sold so many pinafore patterns in a week and I’m convinced it’s because of the exposure from your podcast. I really appreciate it Leslie!
Thanks for talking about Cakewalk – had not seen before. Hoping to get to sample 🙂
The Cakewalk yarns are very lovely! Thanks for a chance.
Just found your site. Good reading!
Finally made it to the latest Podcast. So excited.
Thanks for the opportunity to win such nice presents
Gorgeous yarns!
I’ve been stalking Cakewalk Yarns Etsy shop for a while now – would love to win!
Leslie, I don’t think you should ply that fiber with ANY of the other fibers you showed. I think their colors are all too strong and will dominate too much. I just love that shade all on its own. But that’s just my humble opinion….
Another great episode of course! What lovely sewing Leslie! Can’t wait to see what fiber you choose. LaLa, you always have a lot of items OTN but you always make a lot of progress on them! I love it!
I love the longer episodes. You girls are such enablers!!!
I spend so much money when I watch your show- but I LOVE the exposure to the new yarns!
THANK YOU for another great show!
I am so exciting you are going to have yarn for sale to go along with the spin a long! I wish I were a spinner! I wish I had one of those awesomely expensive wheels :o) For now, I will just have to spin vicariously through you two! I look forward to hearing more about the spin-a-long/ kal!
Thanks for the Cakewalk yarns giveaway!
Love you guys! All this talk about cowls has me searching patterns for my Bijou Basin buffalo yarn that I purchased at Sock Summit 2011…..unless of course I win some Cakewalk yarn 😉
I like the 1st and last color way and actually am leaning to the last color way.
Great episode guys! I am trying to remember the Podcast Laura mentioned? hard to look up on my iphone since my 13 yr old daughter steals my netbook from me constantly !!! LOL
Lesley
(plz never call me Les )
Love -love-LOVE the #1 fiber! It would be perfect!
LOve the podcast..
I have the Wish pattern and have not made it yet but I do like this new one too… Sooooooooooo Looks like nI’ll have another Wip going..
