Yesterday’s prompt from NaBloPoMo was:
What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of your father?
For me, it’s a big rig. My dad (and mother, before she died) drove 18 wheelers since before I was born. Sometimes they team drove, sometimes they didn’t, but they were always on the road. Combine that with 4 kids and all kinds of shenanigans ensued. But that’s a story for another blog post. 😉
Now, why is this entry titled Heresy?
Well, my friends, this knitgirlll has been (gasp!) crocheting. Our annual fairs are coming to town in late summer and I wanted to enter a few things into it for fun. Crocheting tends to go faster than knitting, though I’m so out of practice it isn’t going very much faster, so I queued up a few items and last night I cast on for Walden. I had read through other people’s pattern notes and it seemed like a good dive back into the crocheting world. Have a gander and see what you think?

It looks great so far I love the color yarn your using. I keep telling myself that one day I will learn to crochet I even have a book a friend lent me lol
My dad and his 6 brothers all drive truck. And I drove a “deuce and a half” in the medical corps when I was a lot younger. I took along my knitting and my Mozart tapes. That way I was never bored and always armed.
My mom is on the fair board and pressuring me to enter something. I don’t know. Maybe my “next” knit.
LOVE the color of the yarn you’re crocheting with… Details?
My Dad drives truck as well. He’s driven rigs and tankers my whole life, though as a second job for most of it. Since his company was outsourced he’s been driving more often now. I don’t think he misses his desk job for a minute! 🙂
After our Knit Night group swept some of the knitting/crochet/handcraft categories of the county fair last year, we decided to try for a full sweep this year. I’m planning on putting in the Norwegian Rose socks (to give our crack sock knitter a run for her money) and I’ve got to get working on the lace confection that I said I’d have done for it.
We’re hoping to take the caliber of the whole knitting/crochet area of the local fair up a notch or two. 🙂
