Shownotes for TheKnitGirllls videocast, Episode 1

Episode 1:

Laura/Lala & Leslie/udontcallmeles

Leslie’s WIP’s – Sidewinder socks, Lala’s Knits Yarn, “Into Thin Air”.  Second sock is plain stockingette

Laura’s WIP – 1.  Mara Shawl, yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino, Seaside colorway, 4 skeins.

2.  Lady Bertram Shawlette, by Wendy Johnson, yarn is handspun fiber from Sanguine Grypon, colorway Fire.  65% superwash merino, 35% silk.

3.  Waterfall Sock, by Wendy Johnson.  Yarn is Yarnpirate 100% merino in Mermaid colorway.

Our Favorite Things:

Leslie –

1.  Weeds, Season 3.

2.  RuPaul’s Drag Race, enabled by Mygirlrobot.

3.  Lost, Season 6.

4.  Spring Fling board on Rav!

5.  Haapsalu Shawl book

Laura –

1.  Fantastic Mr. Fox

2.  Toe-Up Socks for Everybody by Wendy Johnson – Laura sample knit for this book!  – we will both probably knit the Norweigan Rose socks.

Spinning – Leslie has a Schacht matchless, but not much spinning right now.  Laura has a Schacht ladybug and is knitting on a batt from Shunklies(rav)/etsy.  Laura is considering a bulky flyer from TLE. We both wish we could spin like Lynnzimm.

Next on the needles:

Leslie – Vesper Knee highs.  Will use Perfect Day Yarns/eatmyoxygen in Wake in Bamboo Haiku, and Vesper yarns in Wildflower Meadow for the leg.  The colorway Laura was mentioning was Nevermore in PDY Laceweight.

Also check out Jen/Piddleloop’s fantastic Etsy shop for some really cool bags!

Laura – Anne Hanson’s Hypoteneuse in silky wool.  Laura might do it in Noro Silk Garden, which Leslie used for Lady Eleanor. Perhaps Jared Flood’s Redhook, but is kind of intimidated by all the short rows.

Laura works Part Time at Hank of Yarn in Southaven, MS.

Both pumped for Spring Fling starting April 22nd in St. Louis, MO.

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

Hey ladies! I’ve been sitting on my couch knitting on my Daybreak Shawl, which I’m determined to have done by the Spring Fling, and watching your videocast. I loved it! And thank you for the shout out…very sweet of you. 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing the next one.

I’ll be bringing my wheel to the Spring Fling and will bring the bulky flier. I didn’t buy any additional bobbins because I plan on using it for plying or for bulky singles. I’ll let you know once I’ve used it more if I think I’ll need additional bobbins.

Can’t wait to see you both at the Fling!

Really enjoyed watching! Wish I had thought to get my knitting together before hand to knit along. Just seems like a nice get together to knit video cast. Lots of energy, lots of personality, lots of information. I liked hearing about the differences in the ways you guys approach knitting and spinning as well as the things you both like, as in the types of yarns and designers. Looking forward to the next one!

  34. Beth says:

Wow, I can’t believe that u had only known each other for three years prior to making your first podcast. I totally thought you’d been BFFs since kindergarten because you have such a great vibe together. (I have only recently found you guys, and I decided to go back in time to see the first episode.) thanks for putting out the podcast. It keeps me company while knitting — though tonight I’m being lazy, just laying on the couch holding a super squishy skein of handspun.

  35. Nicole says:

I just started watching your podcast from the very first episode. I downloaded all the shows available on itunes, and I figured I should start at square one. So here I am, knitting on a chevron baby blanket, and watching you two lovely ladies talk about your knitting. I can’t wait to watch more!
