Over the past few days, I’ve been knitting some Monster Chunks for my 8th grade library workers. This year I have four. Four of the best teenagers that you’ll ever met. We’ve spent the year shelving books, helping each other with complex vs. compound sentence structure ( I did most of the help), and lots of laughter. I have good kids. So good, that two of them are exempt from exams next week and today was our last day together. So I gave them their monster chunks and gift cards to Starbucks. Then they surprised me. They had plotted together and crocheted me a scarf. It’s so acrylic that it squeaks, but all I can feel when I wear it is the love that went into each stitch. These kids are going to rock the world and damn if I don’t miss them already.
