Episode 28 – Matchy- Matchy

Please enjoy Episode 28! We are both sporting handknit shawls out of handspun, and we discuss all the usual items and talk about a couple of great books.

Shownotes to follow!

Our friend Lisa (Lazysockmonkey on Ravelry) is in the cheap seats and is knitting on the Saroyan out of some LaLa’sKnits Yarn.

Gaenor and Renita are the two new shawl patterns I got this week.  I can’t imagine why I couldn’t remember their names.

Laura is knitting on…

FOP square out of Cascade 220 (done and mailed!)

Cheshire Cat colorway ball being made into some toe-up socks from Twisted Limone Designs (1 down, 1 to go).  Her group on Ravelry can be found here.  Stupid floor eating my socks.

Leslie is knitting…

Primavera Socks out of Wollmeise in the Campari Orange in Twin.

Leslie is finished…

The wonderful Demeter’s Shawlette pattern (no bias whatsoever) out of Tempted Handspun in the Teal We Meet colorway.

Laura is finished…

The totally awesome Demeter’s Shawlette in Hello Yarn in the Cauldron colorway.

Forever old socks for Beck out of Three Irish Girls Adorn sock in the Quinn colorway (not to be confused with the Aiden colorway).

Spinning…

Laura is working on her trade spinning project. It’s kinda boring.  Leslie has lost her spinning mojo.

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

Hey! That Wendy Knits book is one of the first books I bought & read when I started knitting hardcore almost four years ago! I had no clue who Wendy was at the time. I think the book is how I found her blog to begin with.

Love the “emergency sock” idea, Laura! In fact, yesterday, when I found myself with some unexpected hanging out time at a festival yesterday, I was regretting that I hadn’t brought any knitting with me and it crossed my mind that I should keep some yarn and needles in my car for just a time as that! I think we all need to carry emergency knitting supplies with us! I mean, what if there was an accident and you found yourself in an emergency room for several hours? Knitting has gotten me through many ER waits! Granted, I was never the sick or injured party, but still. Why risk wasting that time by not having knitting on hand? 😉

Oh, the 3IG socks…Laura…just wondering about the colorway. I did a project with some of her Aiden yarn, but mine was mostly green and no pink at all. Just wondering if I heard you wrong or if they colorway changed at some point.

  2. Sarah says:

Time Bandits is one of my favorites! I need to make the kids watch that one too. I have an emergency sock wip in the back of my car too 😀

    I did longer 😉

  3. Sarah says:

    dig, not did. blah

  4. Bev Love says:

Wow so many contests going on, and the fall CAL/KALs. I love Socktoberfest, but I just had sock fail with the Ardeo’s. They fit my Mom perfectly which means they are too small for my Sister. Her birthday is Oct. 22 so I need to move on to something else for her.

I will give Mom the Ardeo socks for Christmas she will have forgotten all about them by Dec.

  5. Fran says:

Just found your u-tube videos. Love them. Would love to see you show more of your hands knitting while you talk. Maybe zoom out the camera or sit further away from the camera. Your are my knitting buddies while I knit. Thanks again. Love your work.

  6. Suzanne says:

Thanks for the shout out!!! 🙂 I appreciate the support. I was getting all excited when you said there’s a new video podcast out! And then I was like, oh wait that’s me!! lol Too funny! Thank you for your support!!

  7. Sheila says:

I love the shawls, they are both gorgeous.

Flutterby’s are an awesome pattern, very quick and easy and mindless but keeps you interested.

Sensational Knitted Socks was the first book that I bought to learn how to knit socks cuff down as well. Great patterns and great instructions, still refer to it for my toe up stitcht patterns.

    Great show guys.

  8. Fran Walker says:

I just love watching you both chat and knit as I knit. And as a new knitter, I am amazed by your knowledge and find your banter very inspirational- What dedication to produce your show weekly- I look forward to them

  9. Sadie says:

    Hello ladies,
Thanks for the fabulous episode and the new video-podcast recommendation.
Since y’all seem to like a good charity raffle I thought I’d give you a heads up that I’m doing a yarn raffle for a knitterly friend to raise money for her IVF. There’s some yarns currently up and I’ll be adding fibre batts and pictures later today (info over at my blog http://sadieruin.wordpress.com/). There’s some nice stuff thusfar, and it runs until November 21st.

Hey there, I know this is like 4 years late, haha, but I had just found out about your podcast and watching them from the beginning. I cannot watch this one. It plays the ad but when it tried to load the video it says “Sorry, we are unable to play this episode”. Not a big deal that I cannot watch it just wanted to give you a heads up in case it was something you wanted to look into. LOVE YOUR PODCASTS!!! 🙂
