Episode 34 – B is for Books

Leslie & Laura have no FO’s to show, so we fill the time with book reviews! We hope you enjoy hearing about “Children Make Terrible Pets”, “Knit.Sock.Love”, and “101 Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders”.

LaLa is knitting on…

Mystery Pi shawl (designed by Wendy) out of Blackberry Ridge Lace Silk Blend in the Samarkand Blue.

Noro Shawl: Based on the Silk Kerchief pattern (no longer available, but I’ll try to recreate it to the best of my ability in my pattern notes) and out of Noro Kureyon Sock in S188 and S220.

Miss Babs in Rocket Ship (Thanks Wendy).  Socks are the Toe-up with gusset.

Leslie is knitting on…

Shipwreck Shawl. Go Leslie go!

Stripy Sock out of Perfect Day Yarns

We have no spinning or FOs this week.  Sorry!

Favorite Things…

“Children Make Terrible Pets” by Peter Brown

“Knit.Sock.Love” By Cookie A.

The Knitter Magazine.  You can find that little kids hoodie on Ravelry here. Cascata pattern is from the Twist collective.

“Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders” (note that the price is back to normal)

Knitting Knirvana

I kinda skimmed through the shownotes this week.  If I missed anything, please let me know and I’ll try to link it 🙂

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

Leslie, your hair looked lovely today 🙂

I went and added Children Make Terrible Pets and the authors other books to the kids christmas wishlist. I love the illustrations.

Hey Leslie if you do the name drawing for the socks my Daughter Heaven (yes that’s her name) has a size 8 foot and is only 10 years old. I know she would love them as she just loves watching the show with me. She would also like to see your son more on the podcast. She loves kids and wants to be a Teacher. Lots of love and kindness, Talithia and Heaven

Hi knitgirllls, just thought Laura might like to know that I recently picked up a special Christmas edition of ‘The Knitter’ Mag, here in Wales. It surprised me as I’d only just got the regular monthly issue. It’s Issue 25, labelled ‘Special Gifts Edition’.

Let me know if you don’t get it your side of the pond and I’ll see if I can still buy another copy and post it your way.

Love your show, its always a good excuse to put my feet up and grab some knitting.

Stupid podcast keeps hanging up at the 8minute mark and I’m so sad. I keep trying to reload it but we are in Fail Mode, apparently. Wah!

  6. I am more than sure it’s ok to not have an FO every week. Look at the amazing progress you both have to show on current projects! Thanks for the reviews! I love seeing what other people think of publications!

  7. Geal says:

Love the new website look! Thanks for the awesome reviews, I know what to ask for Christmas =0P

  8. Shalanda says:

I love the new website look. It’s sooo cheerful!!!! Loved the show as well. I haven’t started my Pi shawl, yet but hope to begin before the new year. I can’t wait to see ya’ll finished shawls!!

  9. Tina says:

Was wondering how you got to be or how you get to be a test knitter and what does it involve?? Love watching you guys. I don’t belong to any knitting groups so watching you makes me feel like I’m in one! Also I’m a size 8, so if you raffle the socks off I’d love to be included!! Thanks!

  10. Olivia says:

I love the new website style and header. It looks so neat, clean and spacious. Great use of white space! I’m also chuffed you guys are on the Roku even though the quality isn’t there yet. I think I’m one of a handful of people who actually use the Roku but I love that thing to death. I’m happy I can watch your episodes on the tv now because that is where my knitting is at.

  11. Kelly N. says:

I haven’t watched this episode yet, but I gotta say I love the new look of your blog! So fresh and clean!

  12. beth says:

I wear socks with my flip-flops because I used to live in Minnesota and I love to wear sandals so anything that can extend my sandal wear is great! Now that I live in Seattle it’s almost required that you wear socks with sandals 😉

  13. Abigail says:

    LIke the new layout!

I am very anti-socks plus flipflops but one of my friends is totally into it. She’s a beach girl and will wear flipflops as much as humanly possible without getting frostbite.

Thinking about making her some toe-less socks so she can extend it longer in the year.

  14. Jessica says:

This episode is going to cost me money–loved the book reviews, will have to pick up that children’s book for my nieces, too. Thanks for the recommendations!
Leslie, your hair looks so pretty!
