Episode 77 – Art Yarn-a-Palooza

We hope you enjoy this week’s episode with LynnZimm!

Laura is knitting on a Log Cabin Blanket from Mason Dixon Knitting.  It is on size 11 (8.0mm) needles and knit out of Classic Elite Sprout.

Lynn is knitting on a pair of socks out of Twisted Fiber Arts in the Scrabble Colorway.  Lynn is also knitting a Maplewing out of some handspun that she spun herself (Leslie and I have total spinning envy).

Leslie is knitting on a new sweater using Jared Flood’s class notes about EZ’s sweater percentage system (You can find more details about it in Knitting without Tears).

Laura is finished with a Monday Morning Cardigan out of Cascade 220 in color 9473 (Gris) on size 5 (3.75 mm).  She is also finished with her socks out of String Theory Entanglement in Quasar on 1.5 (2.5 mm). BP is also getting a baby hat out of some handspun Lorna’s Laces in Icehouse colorway.

Lynn shares all her Camp Loopy projects.  Her first was a Moody Kerchief (LOVE this pattern!) out of Glenhaven Cashmerino Worsted (I will have to get some of this soon, it was so lovely and squishy!)  Her second Camp Loopy project are the All the Water mittens by Kirsten Kapur out of Malabrigo Twist in Purple Mystery. Her third project was a My wish out of Tosh Merino Light in the Robin Egg and Vandyke Brown.

Leslie has finished her afghan square for this round’s swap out of Malabrigo Rios in Coco. The pattern is a basketweave with a garter boarder.

We went to Camp Plucky Fluff.  Lexi has written the Intertwined book.  We have lots of art yarn to share!

Review of the Sidekick travel wheel by Schacht.

Another Crafty Girl sent me a lovely present of her lovely sock yarn in the Wheatley colorway.

Stash Dash buttons: Please pm Laura your address if you completed stash dash.

SSK update: Wheels will be available for people taking Lynn’s spinning class.  Payments are due soon!  You can find the group for it here.

About Leslie

Leslie is obsessed with knitting, and when possible, perfection in her knitting. All stripey socks must match exactly and all lace must be blocked severely. She has major love for all of her viewers/readers and hopes to keep blogging and podcasting for years to come.

I would love to win art yarn spun by Leslie. So out of the box. But I would also like to win Laura’s. Nice seeing Lynn in person on the show. Beautiful My Wish!

  2. Suzanne Marie says:

The spinning class sounds like it was lots of fun. I would love to win!

  3. Kristen Machowski says:

I’d love to win hand spun, I’m not a spinner so it would just be lovely to see and feel handspun. You both did a great job.

  4. Lisa Smith says:

Handspun?? Heck yeah…send it this way!

  5. Jessica (showmeyourknits on Rav) says:

It was wonderful to see Lynn on your show. Lynn, I miss you! Also, Lynn was a natural on the video–she did not look terrified at all. (Wait, is that just me who feels terror at the idea of being on video?) It was interesting to see all the art yarn techniques you guys tried. Definitely out of the box ideas. I’m excited to hear that there will be some wheels to use for Lynn’s wheel spinning class. Until now, I had figured that this class was out of my choices because I wouldn’t fly to Nashville with my Lendrum. That is very good to know. And the Stash Dash buttons are all kinds of awesome. I love them!

  6. Aron says:

    Gorgeous art yarn ladies 😀

    • Angela in AR says:

I think it’s so funny that my noobie self is trying to learn to spin so smooth/even….and you wonderful spinners are spinning funky and arty.

Loved the art yarns, and meeting LynnZimm. And thanks for the Sidekick highlight – I’ve been looking at (i.e. lusting after) wheels for a while now, and it was good to hear such a glowing recommendation for a wheel that was already near the top of my list.
